The annual student conference for the academic year 2024-2025 is convened, organized by the branch of the National Union of Syrian Students at theAl-Wataniya Private University.

The Syrian National Union of Students – branch of the Al-Wataniya Private  University, chaired by colleague Mohammed Ahmed Khalil, held a student conference under the slogan (A covenant we renew with knowledge, resilience, and victory) to elect student bodies in the university’s various faculties for the academic year 2024-2025, which took place on Sunday, October 27, 2024. The aim was to involve students from different academic years in the electoral process of the bodies and encourage them to share their ideas and developmental proposals for the educational process.

The conference activities commenced with an official presence from the leadership of theAl-Wataniya Private  University, represented by Professor Dr. Ahed Khazem, Dr. Hazem Mili, Vice President of the University for Academic Affairs, and Dr. Hayan Hamdan, Vice President of the University for Administrative Affairs and Student Affairs, along with colleague Mohammed Ahmed Khalil, Chairman of the Syrian National Union of Students branch at the university. For five consecutive days, the conference hosted the faculties of the university, including their deans, students, and student bodies, dedicating one day to each faculty: the Faculty of Pharmacy represented by its Dean Dr. Shoaib Al-Ahmad, the Faculty of Dentistry represented by its Dean Dr. Tarek Abu Ajawe, the Faculty of Architecture and Urban Planning represented by its Dean Professor Dr. Safwat Ibrahim Pasha, the Faculty of Administrative and Financial Sciences represented by its Dean Dr. Hayan Hamdan, the Faculty of Civil Engineering represented by its Dean Dr. Abdel Qader Al-Jundi, and the Faculty of Engineering (Information and Communication) represented by its Dean.

At the beginning of the conference days, the student bodies presented an annual report summarizing their work in the faculties across various aspects (organizational and qualifying aspects, volunteer work and social activities, sports, culture, arts, media and information technology, activities of the body in cooperation with the Union branch, outputs of dialogue sessions). This served as a means to open the door for discussion between students and the conference organizers regarding all inquiries and questions related to their educational reality within the university and to address academic issues for optimal solutions.

The annual student conference for 2024-2025 was an extension of a series of dialogue sessions organized by student bodies in collaboration with the Union branch in the university’s faculties. These sessions formed an important platform for students to express their opinions and discuss the student issues they face and their solutions with the deans of the faculties (exam system, practical groups system, exam question system, academic plans, process of course registration and withdrawal, scientific trips, training courses, scholarships, transportation issues, academic specializations, etc.), which will serve as a crucial foundation for development and reform processes and pave the way for solidifying collaborative ties between administration and students.

Professor Dr. Ahed Khazem emphasized the importance of the annual student conference due to the evolving demands of students and their developmental proposals. He stressed the necessity for the university leadership and deans to remain constantly aware of student issues and the educational reality to improve it as much as possible. The concerned parties responded to all student inquiries and considered their proposals for practical application evaluation.

The significance of student conferences lies in their effective role in shaping the outlines of upcoming academic years and highlighting the most important activities and scientific events aimed at achieving academic achievements and the success of the university’s future plans that fulfill students’ goals and aspirations for success and development.
