The Introductory Seminar of Collegiate Programming Contest

A Dialogue Session towards Enriching Knowledge

Under the kind patronage of the presidency of Al-Wataniya Private University represented by Prof.Dr. Ahed Khuzam and his deputy for Scientific Affairs Dr. Hazem Melli , the introductory seminar  of Collegiate Programming Contest was launched on Sunday morning, 29/10/2023 at the Central Amphitheater, which was chaired by Eng. Bayan Mando, supervisor of Collegiate Programming Contest, with the participation of the De-Buggers team qualified to compete in the ICPC International Collegiate Programming Contest for the year 2023-2024 .

The introductory seminar took the form of an interactive dialogue session with students, addressed in its axes the concept of programming and the most important programming languages used in the current era, and in turn Eng.Mando explained the concept of competitive programming based on providing optimal software solutions as soon as possible.

Eng.Mando explained to the students the criteria adopted in the final evaluation process ( the number of solved issues – the time delay in sending the solution – the number of attempts, errors and others .. )

In a related context , students Dhirar Al-Hamash and Aya Al-Jandali , along with the De-Buggers team , talked about the most important benefits that each of them derived from their own experience in the local and  the ICPC International Collegiate Programming Contest, and how they reflected on school and social life, which was a major reason for their acquisition of many skills ( developing a way of thinking and problem solving-organizing time-prioritizing-working under pressure ..) .

For his part, the president of Al-Wataniya Private University, prof. Dr. Ahed Khuzam, praised the possibilities shown by the programming teams in the competition and the achievements they achieve year after year, as well as the role of the Contest in developing students scientifically and professionally as an integrated life system based mainly on thinking and mental training.

Finally, the introductory seminar witnessed a special remote hosting for Eng. Nasim Daghestani-a trainer in the Collegiate Programming Contest from Baath University – who provided students with many important scientific tips and observations in a step to encourage them to participate in the Collegiate Programming Contest, and identify the most prominent opportunities available to enter the labor market.
