A Joint Scientific Research Published by professors Rana Al-Samaan and Farah Al-Hakim from the College of Pharmacy in The scientific journal Research Journal of Pharmacy and Technology (RJPT)
The scientific journal Research Journal of Pharmacy and Technology (RJPT), accredited by Scopus, has published a joint research study by Ms. Rana Al-Samaan and Ms.Farah Al-Hakim from the Faculty of Pharmacy at Al-Wataniya Private University. The study, titled “The Protective Effect of Pomegranate Peel Ethanolic Extract on Gastric Ulcer Caused by Stress on Rats” was published in 2023.
Researchers Ms. Rana Al-Samaan and Ms.Farah Al-Hakim conducted a scientific study based on an analytical study of data that revealed lots of herbal recipes are used Syria for treating and preventing gastric ulceration, especially the pomegranate peel powder, so the aim of this study was to investigate whether the pretreatment with pomegranate peel ethanolic extract PPEE in two doses (250,500 mg/kg) has any prophylactic effect on gastric mucosal damage caused by cold-restraint ulcer (CRU) in rats.
The research results showed that pretreatment for four weeks was enough to protect the stomach, the ulcer index (UI) was macroscopically calculated and the stomach wall layers were histologically studied, the higher dose (500 mg/kg) was more effective comparing with the small one (250 mg/kg).These results suggest that the pomegranate peel ethanolic extract PPEE has special characteristics that make it useful for preventing from the gastric ulcers caused by stress.
It is worth noting the level of interest that many doctors and professors/researchers in the colleges of Al-Wataniya Private Universitie give to preparing academic scientific research, while taking into account the precision in selecting scientific issues and important practical experiments in various fields, especially in the medical field as it is closely related to daily medical practices that require direct treatment with patients. This requires continuous scientific research to develop information, tools, and treatment methods being used.
