A Theatrical Play Entitled "Internal Conflict" Performed by the

Distinguished Students of Al-Wataniya Private University

The theater has carried messages and social content that reflected the ideas and feelings of the audience over successive decades. Its scenes have become artistic and creative representations of diverse collective thoughts. From this perspective, playwrights and actors have received abundant support and sponsorship from Al-Wataniya Private University, which has consistently provided all facilities for young talents deserving of recognition.

On Wednesday, August 23, 2023, Al-Wataniya Private University witnessed the launch of an event called “Internal Conflict” a maneuver between the mind and the heart regarding not thinking too highly of mental health and a good life. It served as a mirror reflecting the hidden depths of the soul and its emotions, which oscillate between logical reasoning and emotional softness, thus creating a new form of creativity that combines the power of words with profound vision. This theatrical event was crafted by a group of creative talents who embodied real duels between the mind and heart. The protagonists were Yaman Al-Shawwaf as the mind (Faculty of Architecture) and Baraa Ghazal as the heart (Faculty of Administrative and Financial Sciences). Meanwhile, Moeid Al-Dar’a (Faculty of Administrative and Financial Sciences) portrayed the role of heroism successfully depicting the struggle that visits humans, preventing them from making correct decisions, causing them to waver between right and wrong. He was influenced by his mind representing consciousness, knowledge, and facts while attempting to control his emotions and feelings stemming from his heart.

The writer, Mohammed Amin Arwani, aimed to raise public awareness about the human self and the conflicting ideas and emotions that surround it. These links formed an ambiguous relationship that had no explanation, but was based on integration. He diligently searched for answers in his text to satisfy the curiosity of the audience about who would win in this battle. However, he quickly presented scientific and philosophical facts about his entity to make the audience realize the multitude of variables it faces.

A simple idea carried within it many different meanings, which Ghazal Al-Aswad (Faculty of Administrative Sciences) successfully formulated and crystallized in a dramatic context. Within this framework, students Noor Al-Othman (Faculty of Dentistry) and Mohammed Amin Arwani (Faculty of Administrative Sciences) worked to convey intellectual and moral messages to the public through an enlightening discourse. They delved into psychological and social dimensions to provide profound answers for truth seekers.

The play was based on a selective literary text that the students Ali Miftah and Mohammed Al-Saleh were able to articulate in a rich and understandable literary language for the audience. This became evident through the role played by student Moid Al-Dar’a in the theatrical direction process, which is believed to have harmonized between the importance of language and clarity of scene. In addition, other production effects such as music production by Albashi Music and lighting supervised by student Mohammed Daadoush were present.

Under the generous sponsorship of Al-Wataniya Private University represented by Prof.Dr.Ahed Khuzam, President of the University, and his Deputy for Scientific Affairs Dr. Hazem Melli, with organization from the National Union of Syrian Students – Al-Wataniya Private University Branch and the Subsidiary Office of Culture and Arts, these young talents were able to take their first steps towards creativity. Through their acting performances on stage, they successfully reached out to the emotions of the audience and created a cognitive and emotional impact.
