The Graduation Ceremony for The Ninth Batch of Students from Al-Wataniya Private University

A Group of Ambitious Youth Working towards Building The Future

 The ceremony took place on Friday, September 29, 2023. The event was held under the generous sponsorship of His Excellency the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Prof. Dr. Bassam Bashir Ibrahim. It was attended by representatives from various official educational, political, economic, partisan, union, social, and religious organizations.

Al-Wataniya Private University hosted a significant academic event as it marked the graduation of the first batch of students from the College of Pharmacy and the Civil Engineering Department of the College of Engineering. Additionally, students from various other colleges, including the College of Dentistry, the College of Engineering, the College of Architecture and Urban Planning, and the College of Administrative and Financial Sciences, graduated.

The opening remarks of the ceremony were delivered by Miss Engineer Ghaithaa Naioof, who officially inaugurated the celebration with the following words: “This year, we celebrate the graduation of a new group of our students. Each year, the challenge reaches new heights, and the commitment to success becomes unwavering. Success in and of itself is an achievement, and our dreams soar higher. This year is distinguished by our graduates, their families, the presence of beloved attendees, and esteemed guests.”

Development and Growth… A Fundamental Goal

With dedicated efforts from Al-Wataniya Private University, represented by Prof. Dr. Ahed Khuzam, the deans of faculties, and the educational and administrative staff, the ceremony began on the grounds of Al-Wataniya Private University to announce the graduation of its ninth batch of students. They are now ready to enter the job market with bright minds, high skills, and a strong belief in their ability to continue achieving success and excellence. This is something the university has aimed to achieve, grounded in its vision that emphasizes building individuals and serving the community and the nation above all.

The University’s President, Prof.Dr. Ahed Khuzam, warmly welcomed the distinguished guests in his speech, where he talked about the future vision of Al-Wataniya Private University as an educational system with developmental plans and goals that it has been working on since its inception up to this day. He stated, “In recent years, Al-Wataniya Private University has witnessed a distinctive renaissance and development, benefiting from a solid foundation throughout its successive stages. The university has been keen on advancing scientific research and enriching its library with important books, references, and resources, which has clearly reflected in the excellence of its postgraduate graduates and their professional practice.”

Prof.Dr. Ahed Khuzam also emphasized in his speech the university’s continuous efforts to improve quality and accreditation, enhance the capabilities of its human resources, harness technology as an educational tool for innovation, and develop its infrastructure in line with the optimal capacity system according to the laws and regulations set by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.

In his speech, His Excellency the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Prof. Dr. Bassam Bashir Ibrahim, congratulated the National Private University for keeping pace with progress and development. He commended the university’s dedication to enhancing its infrastructure and elevating its status as a pioneering educational institution that year after year strives to keep up with the latest advancements in science and apply new knowledge in the service of its students. This enables them to play an effective role in serving and developing the community.

“Today’s Graduates… A Beacon for Future Generations”

The colleges proudly celebrated their graduates in a majestic procession, which included approximately 696 students from various engineering and medical colleges at the university. The graduates were distributed as follows: 229 from the College of Dentistry, 34 from the College of Pharmacy, 170 from the College of Engineering, 117 from the College of Architecture and Urban Planning, and 146 from the College of Business and Finance. These graduates represent a new generation of Al-Wataniya Private University for the academic year 2022-2023.

Abdulkarim Al-Naasan, the President of the National Union of Syrian Students at Al-Wataniya  Private University, addressed the students in a speech: “Dear graduates, my colleagues… We must develop our personal skills and strive for excellence at all levels. Graduation is not the end, but the beginning. The advantage of education is that it cannot be taken away. Follow your passion, be honest with yourselves, and do everything in your power to achieve great things.”

Nayla Bazrabashi, a graduate of the College of Pharmacy, spoke on behalf of the ninth batch of graduates, saying, “In this great moment, let me and my fellow graduates express our gratitude to Al-Wataniya Private University, which opened its doors to us and welcomed us, each with our differences, talents, and ideas. It became the warmest home. We also extend our deepest thanks to Prof. Dr. Ahed Khuzam, the President of the University, who has been and continues to be a role model for us.”

Before announcing the graduation of the ninth cohort of Al-Wataniya Private University students, the graduates were honored with certificates of appreciation by Dr. Bassam Bashir Ibrahim, the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and Professor Dr. Ahed Khuzam, the President of the National Private University, as well as Fayez Istaifan, representing the President of the National Union of Syrian Students and the head of the Special Education Bureau, and Abdulkarim Al-Naasan, the President  of Al-Wataniya  Private University Branch of the National Union of Syrian Students. This recognition marked their graduation as a qualitative leap that Al-Wataniya  University is witnessing, characterized by quality and excellence.

Strategic Partnerships… The Foundation of Productive Collaboration

Al-Wataniya Private University, represented by its President, Prof. Dr. Ahed Khuzam, and Mr. Samir Al-Barazi, the Chairman of the Board of the National Private Company for Science and Development, as well as the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, expressed their gratitude to the official supporters and strategic partners. These included Mr. Bassel Seraaj, the Director of Arab Bank – Syria – Hama Branch, Mrs. Rabia Al-Ma’amari, the Chairwoman of Rabia Al-Ma’amari Company for Sanitary Supplies, Mr. Nabil Tayfur, the Director of Al Baraka Bank – Syria – Hama Branch, Engineer Ghassan Sabagh Al-Shirazi, the Chairman of the Civil Transport Company, Mrs. Silva Dermesrobian
Head of corporate banking department in Byblos bank, and Engineer Hassan Al-Najjar, the President of the Syrian Scientific Association for Informatics. They were acknowledged through the presentation of shields and certificates of appreciation, expressing their gratitude for their continued support and cooperation in the success of the university’s plans for comprehensive development and advancement at all levels of education and research.

“An Accomplishment-Filled Academic Year

An eventful academic year witnessed the prestigious ceremony that featured a visual presentation of a short panoramic film summarizing all the scientific events and various activities organized by the Al-Wataniya Private University in the past academic year. The film showcased all the achievements that the university, under the leadership of its presidents, deans, staff, and outstanding students, had worked hard to attain. These achievements included international collaborations, scientific competitions, and high-importance events, which played a significant role in enhancing Al-Wataniya  Private University’s status on both the local and global levels.

In a related context, a film was screened narrating the success stories of a group of Al-Wataniya Private University graduates who continued their journey of excellence by entering the job market and proving their competence in their professional lives. They serve as exemplary role models for a new generation of upcoming graduates embarking on a challenging professional life.

Additionally, Al- Wataniya Private University hosted the Orchidea artistic group in a series of dance and theatrical performances, which added a visual aesthetic impact to the event, capturing the attention of all attendees. In an effort to share in the joy of their graduation, the university also welcomed the artist Michel Malouf and his musical group to celebrate this great occasion, creating an atmosphere of joy and love.

The graduation ceremony was the culmination of years of success during which Al-Wataniya  Private University graduated successive generations of graduates capable of leading the community and advancing it in knowledge, work, and dedication..
