تحري التأثير الخافض لسكر الدم بمركب ميثيل سلفونيل ميثان لدى الأرانب

يمثل الداء السكري مشكلة صحية عالمية، وباعتباره مرضاً مزمناً، فهو يتطلب علاجات آمنة وفعالة على المدى الطويل. بحثت هذه الدراسة في التأثيرات الخافضة لغلوكوز الدم لميثيل سلفونيل ميثان مقارنةً بالميتفورمين في نماذج للداء السكري المُحدث بالألوكسان. يُدمر الألوكسان خلايا بيتا البنكرياسية بشكل انتقائي مما يؤدي إلى نقص إفراز الأنسولين وارتفاع سكر الدم. تم استخدام أربع مجموعات من الأرانب (4 لكل مجموعة) وهي: المجموعة الشاهدة، مجموعة الألوكسان، مجموعة الميتفورمين ومجموعة MSM. قيست مستويات غلوكوز الدم الصيامي بعد 24 ساعة من انتهاء الإعطاء لكل المجموعات. قلل MSM والميتفورمين بشكل ملحوظ من ارتفاع سكر الدم، ولكن أظهر MSM نتائج أفضل، مقارنةً بالميتفورمين (p=0.000)، وقد يعود ذلك لتأثيراته الوقائية لخلايا بيتا البنكرياسية. وتخلص الدراسة إلى أن MSM قد يكون بديلاً علاجياً جيداً أو إضافياً لأدوية السكري المعروفة مثل الميتفورمين، ونوصي بإجراء الدراسات النسيجية المرضية على الخلايا البنكرياسية لتأكيد نتائج دراستنا.
