Al-Wataniya Pharmaceutical Club Launches The First Competition of its Kind at The Level of Syrian Private Universities

Titled (Analysis and Reading of Prescriptions )

Under the patronage and official presence of the presidency of Al-Wataniya Private University represented by Prof. Dr. Ahed Khuzam , his deputy for scientific affairs Dr. Hazem Melli , dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy Dr. Shoaib Al-Ahmed and colleague Abdulkarim Al-Naasan, head of the Branch of the National Union of Syrian Students at Al-Wataniya Private University, Al-Wataniya Pharmaceutical Club held a competition ( Analysis and Reading of Prescriptions ) on Monday, 20/11/2023 until Tuesday, 21/11/2023 at the Central University Library, as the first scientific event of its kind at the level of the Faculty of Pharmacy .

The president of the pharmaceutical club , student Mohammed Fahad Abdullah , together with the members of the club administration , introduced the idea of the competition , as it is a new competitive challenge that depends on the student’s speed in reading the prescription and analyzing it correctly based on several elements ( trade name, caliber, pharmaceutical form, method of use ) within a time period not exceeding 9 minutes for each stage.

The event was opened by student Ahmed Monqiz Al-Hourani , vice president of the club , explaining to the contestants the mechanism of the competition, which was launched under the slogan ( Test Your Skills and Compete with Others ) in the presence of a capable judging committee consisting of ( Dr. Abdulkarim Maghmouma, chairman of the committee, Dr. Mohab Al-Jundi, committee member, Dr. Safa Eliwi committee member ) and under the supervision of a group of observers, where an observer was assigned to each three students .

The scientific competition was launched with the participation of 33 students eligible to compete in four competitive stages :

– First day (Monday ): 

(First stage ) the challenge started for all contestants 33 students and only 17 students passed it

(Second stage ) the challenge started for the remaining 17 students and only 9 students passed it

The second day (Tuesday ) :

(Third stage-semi-final) the competition began between 9 students to score the first three places

(Fourth stage-final) the students of the first three places competed to crown the winner.

The student Mohannad Sheikh Taha was able to achieve the first place by passing the four stages with excellent performance and high merit in analyzing prescriptions optimally and in the shortest possible time , while the student Tasnim Al-Nouri won the second place , while the third place was won by the student Anas Ghazal, in an actual step on the road to success, which received a positive response represented by the provision of care and logistical and material support by Prof. Dr. Ahed Khuzam, president of Al-Wataniya Private University .

The success of the competition came as a result of the diligent work of the Deanship of the Faculty of Pharmacy to coordinate joint efforts with the presidency and members of the Pharmaceutical Club , where the student Suhaib Munther Al-Shaar supervised as the program officer and designer of the club on the process of showing the results of the marks electronically in addition to the cooperation of the club members on the design of a special application for observers that enables each observer to set the time to ensure the correctness of the results and accuracy .students Abdulhadi Diab and Sarah Abdullatif Al-Akhras supervised the process of communication with the scientific committee while student Abdullah Al-Mulla Saleh, a member of the club administration coordinated the process of communication with students.

It should be noted the efforts exerted by Al-Wataniya Pharmaceutical Club to make the practical competition a success with a high level of goals, quality in implementation and full media coverage of the event coordinated by the Club’s Media represented by student Firas Wael Abboud with the KOT team of the Branch of the National Union of Syrian students at the University and in cooperation with the Media of  Al-Wataniya Private University.

An important scientific competition that came as a practical application of the plans of Al-Wataniya Private  University seeking to enhance the abilities of students and hone their practical skills to enter the professional world at a confident pace and high professional efficiency.
