The International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC) is a global competitive programming ecosystem built around algorithmic thinking, problem solving, teamwork, and programming under time pressure. Originating in North America, it evolved into a worldwide network of local and regional contests that advances the strongest university teams toward the ICPC World Finals.
ICPC did not begin as a global championship. It developed gradually from a collegiate activity into a multi-tier competition structure encompassing local contests, regionals, area championships, and ultimately the ICPC World Finals.

ICPC officially records the Syrian Virtual University team Watermelon Juice Slayer as the second-place team at the 2025 Africa & Arab Collegiate Programming Championship.
Al-Wataniya Private University’s Chill Guys qualified for the 2026 ICPC World Finals in Dubai, becoming—according to the University’s announcement—the first team from a Syrian private university to reach the World Finals. The team consists of Yazan Al-Attar, Dirar Al-Hamash, and Obada Khawam. The Finals are scheduled for 15–20 November 2026.

Ain Shams University — Faculty of Computers and Information was listed as the Africa and Arab regional winner in the official ICPC World Finals results.
