January 11, 2026
Driven by its responsibility to elevate the scientific and professional standards of dentistry students, the Faculty of Dentistry at Al-Wataniya Private University, in cooperation with the Baram & Al-Hamad Company, launched the “Scientific Week in Endodontics” on Sunday, January 11, 2026. This initiative aims to keep pace with the latest dental technologies and employ modern medical sciences and expertise to serve humanity and society.
Endodontics: A Broad and Diverse Science
The activities of the scientific week commenced with a series of lectures in the field of endodontics. Dr. Ahmed Sayar Shaqfa discussed “Diagnosis of Pulp and Periapical Diseases,” emphasizing the importance of the diagnostic process starting from identifying symptoms and medical history to clinical tests, differential diagnosis with systemic diseases, and the application of intraoral and extraoral examinations.
Moving from diagnosis to the horizons of modern materials, Dr. Adnan Ghazal explained in his lecture, “Bioceramics in Endodontics,” the nature of bioceramics and their biological and chemical properties. He presented clinical applications including direct and indirect pulp capping, apexification, and the treatment of perforations.
In a related context, Dr. Ahmed Qortabani highlighted in his lecture, “Ten Key Points for Successful Composite Restorations” the most critical steps a practitioner must follow in composite restoration. As one of the most precise procedures in a dental clinic, its success depends on the doctor’s skill and adherence to meticulous technical steps.
Scientific Week for Endodontics: Strategic Plans and Visions
The scientific event brought together elite doctors, experts, and researchers from both inside and outside the university. Professor Dr. Ahed Khuzam, President of Al-Wataniya Private University, opened his speech by discussing the importance of this forum as a bridge connecting a rigorous academic curriculum with the latest international clinical expertise. He stressed that science and research are the cornerstones of building society and reconstructing the nation, looking forward to new scientific outcomes based on medical expertise, knowledge exchange, and a high-quality sustainable partnership with Baram & Al-Hamad, a leader in the dental field.
For his part, Dr. Tariq Abou Ajwa, Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, emphasized the strategic vision and academic plans through which the faculty seeks to attract prestigious scientific figures. This contributes tangibly to raising the scientific and practical levels of students, especially in endodontics. He praised the scientific partnership with Baram & Al-Hamad, which contributed to the success of the scientific week both academically and practically.
In turn, Dr. Abdul Wahab Baram, General Manager of Baram & Al-Hamad Company, delivered a welcoming speech. He spoke about the prospects of scientific cooperation between the company and Al-Wataniya Private University, describing it as a true gateway for dentistry students to enter the world of modern medical equipment provided by the company with distinguished services and warranties. He affirmed the company’s commitment to providing students with practical skills in using new medical devices for endodontic procedures through specialized laboratory workshops.
Renewed Sciences and Advanced Treatment Methods
The lecture topics were diverse, providing a comprehensive overview of all methods used in endodontics. Dr. Sumaya Sheikh Al-Ghanama pointed out in her lecture, “Access Cavity: The Gateway to Endodontic Success,” the modern concept of the access cavity as the most important step that facilitates the remaining stages of treatment, including preparation, disinfection, and obturation, while explaining the key tools used in these processes.
Dr. Karim Srour delivered a specialized lecture on ” How to select the correct rotary device and apex locator for the management of severely curved canals” He explained the criteria for choosing an apex locator and the pre-flaring technique, while highlighting anatomical challenges, treatment planning, and irrigation protocols in curved canals.
In the same context, Dr. Asmaa Al-Talla posed an important question in her lecture title: ” Manual vs. Rotary Endodontic Files: Which Performs Better?” This served as an introduction to comparing manual and automated treatment philosophies. She noted the advantages of manual treatment, such as safety and tactile feedback, while explaining the benefits of automated treatment in terms of precision and speed.
The first day of the Scientific Week in Endodontics concluded with several interactive activities organized by Baram & Al-Hamad Company in cooperation with Al-Wataniya Private University. This step aimed to enhance student feedback through scientific competitions, where students won prizes consisting of modern medical devices and tools used in endodontics.
It was established in 2007 and includes six colleges:
