Faculty of Dentistry at Al-Wataniya Private University Holds “Most Beautiful Clinical Case” Competition for 2025

The Faculty of Dentistry at Al-Wataniya Private University held the “Most Beautiful Clinical Case” competition for fifth-year students and faculty graduates on Monday, December 15, 2025. The event aims to stimulate clinical excellence and encourage the application of theoretical knowledge and practical skills in managing complex dental cases.

The competition was held under the direct supervision of Dr. Tarek Abu Ajwa, Dean of the Faculty, and his deputy, Dr. Raef Al-Najjar, with diligent coordination by Dr. Yasser Al-Halabi and the heads of the academic departments.

Diverse Clinical Cases Reflecting Student Expertise

Participating students presented an advanced range of clinical cases treated entirely under the supervision of the university’s expert teaching staff. The cases included:

  • Dental Implants and Immediate Implantation.
  • Surgical Removal of jaw cysts.
  • Diastema Closure (closing gaps between teeth).
  • Restoration of severely decayed or fractured teeth using fiber posts.
  • Prosthodontics, including Porcelain-Fused-to-Metal bridges.
  • Full Arch Rehabilitation.

Students executed these treatments following rigorous scientific protocols, beginning with comprehensive diagnosis and treatment planning, followed by meticulous documentation of “before and after” stages, and concluding with long-term follow-up and evaluation.

Specialized Judging Committees and Evaluation Criteria

Dr. Tarek Abu Ajwa, in cooperation with supervising academic staff, utilized a specialized evaluation mechanism based on several scientific pillars:

  1. Diagnostic Quality: Ensuring the safety and scientific accuracy of the intervention.
  2. Innovation: Creative approaches within the treatment plan.
  3. Technical Execution: Measuring the student’s clinical precision and manual skills.
  4. Aesthetic and Functional Results: Assessing the harmony between the look and the utility of the treatment.
  5. Documentation: Evaluating the quality of the presentation and organizational skills.

The judging panel included heads of scientific departments: Dr. Lobna Al-Jabi (Prosthodontics), Dr. Somaya Sheikh Al-Ghannamah (Endodontics), Dr. Jihad Kharfan (Oral Surgery), Dr. Zahi Al-Shawwaf (Oral Pathology), Dr. Sally Al-Ahmad (Orthodontics and Pediatric Dentistry), and Dr. Hussein Al-Khatib (Life Sciences).

Honoring Clinical Excellence

At the conclusion of the event, winners were honored by the Dean and department heads, receiving cash prizes in recognition of their hard work:

  • First Place: Student Ahmed Abu Rabia for his outstanding case in Full Mouth Rehabilitation.
  • Second Place (Tie): Students Shahd Al-‘Itr and Muhammad Mansour for their precision in Diastema Closure.
  • Third Place: Student Samira Al-Wakeel for her advanced case in Immediate Implantation.

This competition underscores the commitment of Al-Wataniya Private University to graduating highly competent dentists who are ready to compete in both local and international labor markets with the highest standards of oral healthcare.
