Abstract

The study aims to analyze the factors influencing the success and continuity of small businesses by examining the following factors: the personal and administrative characteristics of the business owner, institutional factors, financing, marketing strategies, and the surrounding economic and geographical environment.

Through a field study targeting (50) small commercial businesses in Hama Governorate, (50) questionnaires were distributed, and (39) valid questionnaires were retrieved for analysis. The study relied on a descriptive analytical approach, using a questionnaire as a tool for data collection. Data was analyzed using the statistical program (SPSS) to test hypotheses.

The results showed that there is a statistically significant effect of the business owner's personal and administrative factors on the success of small businesses. There is also a statistically significant effect of financing on the success of small businesses. The study also found a statistically significant effect of effective marketing strategies on the success of small businesses. However, the study concluded that institutional factors and the economic and geographical environment had no statistically significant effect on the success of the small businesses in the study sample. The study recommended the development of a legislative and regulatory environment that encourages small businesses, facilitating administrative procedures, providing flexible financing channels, and enhancing training and qualification programs for business owners, particularly in the areas of management and marketing.
