On Sunday, 3/12/2023, the Faculty of Administrative and Financial Sciences at Al-Wataniya Private University hosted the Syrian Association of Financial and Accounting Professions- Hama Branch and Alpha Capital Company for Financial Services to hold an introductory seminar entitled (Investment Services at the Damascus Securities Exchange) for Lecturer Dr. Moti Abu Murra, investment manager at Alpha Capital Financial Brokerage Company, in the official presence of the dean of the College, Dr. Hayyan Hamdan, and a number of doctors and professors of the college.
Dr. Moti Abu Murra opened the introductory seminar by presenting a comprehensive overview of the establishment of Alpha Capital and the financial services provided by it, being the first company to launch an electronic trading service via the internet in addition to the main services such as investment management , consulting and financial brokerage. Dr.Abu Murra stressed the importance of research and economic feasibility studies carried out by the company as it keeps the public up to date with the news of banks and economic and investment companies at the local level.
In a related context , the members of Alpha Capital Company for Financial Services presented a detailed presentation on the Stock Market, including stock indices and their performance, responding to various inquiries related to the capital required to start the investment or electronic trading process and what is the desired benefit from it, where Dr. Abu Murra spoke about the Damascus Market and the most prominent companies, and banks contributing to the increase in the rate of investment over the past years to the present time .
On the other hand, Dr. Moti Abu Murra pointed out that the Damascus Securities Exchange is an investment opportunity for everyone and is not limited to a certain category of beneficiaries, but the investment process is subject to clear rules and laws that in turn contribute to increasing investment awareness and managing it optimally, in addition to familiarizing the investor with the correct mechanisms and methods to achieve the greatest desired benefit for him.
As for the actual need of students for more information in the field of profession, the seminar organizers discussed many questions and inquiries about currency inflation and the economic feasibility of the investment process and highlighted the potential risks of it and other points that enriched the axes of the introductory seminar and its goals in increasing investment awareness and highlighting to students the potential opportunities in front of them to enter the labor market.
It is noteworthy that the success of the seminar came as a result of the existing cooperation between Al-Wataniya Private University represented by its Presidency, the Deanship of the Faculty of Administrative and Financial Sciences, the Syrian Association of Financial and Accounting Professions- Hama Branch and Alpha Capital Company for Financial Services, in a distinctive step to increase students ‘ knowledge and practical skills in the field of financial management and economic investment.
